Issues: Jobs
Northeast Indiana is home to more manufacturing jobs (over 100,000) than anywhere else in the United States. We have more people in manufacturing jobs than 16 other States as a whole. Manufacturing has found a home here because of the creativity, innovation and hard work of area residents. While manufacturing has been a staple of our area for decades, Indiana is changing to one of the high-tech centers of the world and I have been continually working to create the best environment for our economic future.
I have and will continue to vote for:
- The expansion of the R&D tax credit so businesses can reinvest in themselves and the community
- A simpler tax code to ease the burden on families and small businesses
- Trade agreements that don't send jobs overseas and are fair to workers in the U.S.
- Laws that allow unions to organize without intimidating workers or robbing them of the right to a private vote
